Promontory Fort / Cliff Castle in Anglesey
Surrounded by precipitous cliffs made of pre-cambrian rock tortuously folded and treachourous underfoot, I couldn't see any way onto this promontory without a helicopter or a complete disregard for personal safety.
That said, the interior has been raided over the years by metal detectors and chancers with reports of pottery, spindle whorls, coins and bucket mounts being uncovered.
It was scheduled in 1981 as an Ancient Monument to prevent any further illegal digging on this site.
