hallsifer visited on 4th Aug 2022 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 5 Absolutely gorgeous stone with bright clear carvings. There's a informational card at the base of the stone for local insight into how it came to be in the church. The church itself is also absolutely stunning with two stone crosses in its gardens and old wall paintings within the church that survived whitewashing.

The Selus Stone at St Just, Cornwall. Inside St Just's Church there is a 5th or 6th century pillar stone with a Latin inscription and a chi rho cross. It commemorates St Selevan or Levan, the brother of St Just (Jestyn). Originally it was built into the church wall near the altar, but in 1824 it was stood up-right. Standing at 5 foot 5' tall, on a large square base, it is a Romano-Christian stone.

On the front side there is an incised chi rho cross, while on the opposite side a Latin inscription SELUS IC IAC-T or 'here lies Selus', who is probably St Selevan or Selyf. He lived in the 6th century and may have been a king of Cornwall. His wife was St Gwen or Wenn, sister of St Non who was St David's mother. Two villages in Cornwall bear his name: St Levan at Lands End and Lansallos near Fowey.

Also in the church a Saxon style cross-shaft which is used as a lintel.
