TheCaptain couldn't find on 10th Jul 2005 Despite being on the signposts of the megalithic walk, I could not find this 4 metre tall menhir and its fallen companions. The menhir is the only one now standing of a little alignment, the other stones small and fallen, but it is on private property which is probably why I missed it, despite a very long walk towards it from at least two directions.

A 4 metre tall menhir is the only one now standing of a little alignment, the other stones much smaller and fallen.

These stones are to be found in the forest to the east of Monteneuf.

Chomet de (Coëtplan) Couéplan by negus on Saturday, 13 September 2014

The path to the stone is hidden, but it surely is a beauty. When following the road (yellow trail) from the main crossroad back to le Valescan (Guer direction), it's good to look for a gap in the bush. It's just a narrow path in ferns. After few meters an abandoned house appears. That's where the stone is.

According to the info I got in Guer, the stone was originally 6 m long, but when American soldiers arrived to a nearby village in 1918, they fired at the stone for unknown reasons. As a result the stone is now only 4 m long.

(The name is not Coëtplan, but Couéplan)
