Drift Stones
Drift Stones submitted by cazzyjane : The Sisters, Drift, Penwith. (Vote or comment on this photo)
A pair of standing stones known as 'The Sisters' near the village of Drift, a few miles to the northwest of Penzance along the A30. They stand 2.7m and 2.3m in height, and 5.5 metres apart from each other.

The larger of the two stones, which is the farthest from the road, is said to resemble a lady wearing a cloak, and I can vouch that from certain angles this does indeed look the case.

Access: The Sisters can be seen from the A30. There is a handy lay-by and easy access through the field, where they stand less than 100 yards from the gate.

Higher Drift Stones Part 2
Higher Drift Stones Part 2 submitted by AngieLake : Part 2 of the dowse in March 2004. (See first part for outline of rectangular sides of processional route, which seemed to circle 5 posts on each side of the area.) Heading SW (poss Winter Solstice Sunset), then back to the centre of the stones, this is a more complicated set of moves, and each one is numbered. I cannot prove any of this, but it might be interesting to compare with any future ...

Higher Drift Stones Part 1
Higher Drift Stones Part 1 submitted by AngieLake : Part 1 of a fascinating, and unique in my experience, dowse at Drift Stones. This was the diagram made after asking the rods to show me a processional route in March 2004, when the field was not planted with a crop. I circled five things on each side of a rectangular route that aligned with each stone. Were they perhaps posts? The second part (to follow) is more complicated, and the rectangle ... (1 comment)

If you are planning to visit these stones please note that a new crop is just sprouting in this field. I was lucky when I visited and dowsed in March 2004, as it was all grass then. (The dowsing results were unique in my experience, by the way.) If you look really closely Tresvennack Pillar is the tall white thi... (1 comment)
