Within an oval pit 2 remaining orthostats are visible. One (markes "O1" on the photos) probably is in situ, the other one ("O2") seems to be slightly out of place. The pit is orientated approximately NW-SE and has a length of 12m. The site was examined by Dr. Elisabeth Schlicht in the first half of the 20th century, but the results unfortunately are not published.
Access remark:
During my last visits there was a very small sign beside the narrow Sprakel-Sögel road. If you walk along the track leading off south for 200m you will enter the wood (Staverner Wald) and find a large information panel for all the sites in this wood. The info-panel includes a map. The map is correct in general, but several tracks are missing others depicted on the map are now overgrown. So this might be somewhat irritating.
The remains of this tomb are situated in a thick wood with lots of undergrowth just 30m East of small pond. I used the 1:25000 topographic map and had no difficulties to find it in April 2009, but I guess it can easily be missed when the leaves are out. It is a very secluded spot. Certainly there is not much to see, but the ambience is great.
