Pedra da Arca (Malpica)
Pedra da Arca (Malpica) submitted by Condros : In Galicia, Spain, there are some incredible references to this tomb. It lies close to an ancient pathway, and is reputed to be the tomb of "Orca Bella" the Galician equivalent of the Irish war goddesses the "Morrigan",Christian legends, depict her as a horrible demon like woman-who snares saintly men into her tomb, drawing the capstone over them, older faiths show her as a woman carrying a child i... Dolmen in Galicia.
The "Pedra da Arca" dolmen is another of the many such monuments that can be found in the Galician area of Spain.

This nice Dolmen is set 110m over sea level and is formed by 7 orthostats. The capstone is broken. The tomb entrance corridor faces East.

Close observation of the different stones will reward the visitor with some surviving petroglyphs.

To find the "Pedra da Arca" just follow the road from Carballo to Malpica (first Lc414, then Lc420). Some Km before Malpica you will find it signposted to the left of the road. As an alternate method, look for the signpost for "Camping Sisargas", turn left on the junction and don't enter the camping but follow the path some hundred more meters to find the Dolmen to your right.

Please Note: Latitude and Longitude are approximate.

Pedra da Arca (Malpica) submitted by Eadhmonn Uacuinn : This is the "PEDRA DA ARCA" in Malpica de Bergantinhos, Corunha Province, Galicia, Spain. Access was "Difficult", as we had to drive through many fields including a chained gate. It was on an ancient pathway, a "pre-Christian pilgrims path". (Vote or comment on this photo)
