Axstedt Huenensteine
Axstedt Huenensteine submitted by Martin_L : Western part of the chamber. One of the remaining 2 passage orthostats visible at the lower edge of the picture. All 14 chamber orthostats are preserved nearly in situ, but are deeply embedded into the ground. Only one impressive capstone (out of probably 6) remained. (April 2009) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Located in farmland close to a minor road, this 6-yoke chambered tomb only has one capstone and 14 uprights still left over. The original entrance lay in the middle of the south side, with two passage stones remaining.

There is a round barrow nearby at N53.3584 E8.7550.

Orientation: E-W
Estimated age: approx. 3000 B.C.
Classified by Sprockhoff as No. 620

Axstedt Huenensteine submitted by SolarMegalith : Steingrab in Axstedt. Unfortunately the monument isn't signed on the main road - in the village Axstedt you need to turn left and then right on the crossing. The tomb itself is in poor condition, only one capstone is left.
