The oval-shaped fortification measures about 550 x 300 meters and comprises a total area of 15 hectares. As the excavation in the year 1956 has shown, it consisted of a 4,5 meters wide rampart with an inner wood-earth-construction and two v-shaped ditches, which had been carved into the genuine bedrock, in front of it.
The rampart and the ditches are generally in a bad condition. They’re well preserved in the southwest over a length of 600 meters, but are almost flattend in the northwest and completely vanished in the east. As burnt layers behind the rampart and inside the ditches suggests, the fortification has been damaged or even destroyed by fire. The excavated potsherds can be dated to the early Hallstatt Period of the Iron Age.
