Standing Stones in Møre og Romsdal
Just north of the lighthouse of Hogsteinneset and in the garden of the lighthouse keeper's house are two pretty standing stones. They are both located in a grassy field just north of the buildings and one on each side of the country road.
The stone to the east of the road is around 3.5 metres in height, around 60cm wide and around 20-15cm thick. It has a very rugged appearance, and gets thinner close to the top. The top ends in a sharp point.
The second standing stone to the west of the road is around 2 metres in height, around 40cm wide and around 10cm thick. It has previously been in use as a bench just outside the lighthouse keeper's house. It was later replaced here just west of the road. It is uncertain, however, if this is the original location.
To the west of the houses are the remains of a large burial cairn. Some of the stones from this cairn were used in the foundations of the modern houses. Today, only the bottom layer is still visible.
