Hillfort in New Zealand

Mangawhai Heads North Pa is located on a promontory above the coast providing excellent observation of approaching war canoes along this eastern seaboard. The pa is twinned with the nearby Mangawhai Heads South Pa. The local iwi (Maori tribe) Te Uri O Hau are said to have traditionally arrived here on their ancestral waka (ocean going canoe) "Mahuhu Ki Te Rangi" around 1250 AD.
