This area Brensholmen consists of two settlements. One from Iron age, and one much older, from the stone age some distance from each other. Since it is settlements from two such different types, I will treat them as two individual sites, even if they are not very far away from each other.
The Iron age settlement consists of the remains of four houses/structures with the depression marks clearly visible. There have been excavations at this site, and they showed signs of a farm from late iron age, almost early middle ages, but the settlement on the farm could also go back further in time.
Two of the houses are elongated in shape and look like longhouses from the Iron age.
There are also some scattered barrow cairns, they are small, about 3-6m in diameter, and low in height, and also some scattered barrows all around in the farm area. Since they are of the same age as the structures, I will write about them here, even if some of them are some distance away from the settlement. One larger barrow cairn is located on a small rigde overlooking the sea below, and has also a stone fence running just south of it.
Four medium-sized barrow mounds lie on a field some distance away, they are from 7-10m in diameter. It is also a small, but pretty standing stone almost down at the sea line about 1 kilometre away from the settlement, and also two remains of boat houses. I also see marks that indicate more barrows on the nearby fields, but they have sadly been ploughed away, and there have also been several more larger barrows nearby, and also some standing stones, but they have sadly been ploughed away or removed in the 50`s.
