Hillfort in Oppland
The hillfort is located on a steep sided rocky hilltop just to the north east of the main E6 highway going trough Gudbrandsdalen valley. The hill and landscape is very rocky and boulders are everywhere in between fir forests. The landscape is beautiful itself with steep mountain sides and a gorgeous river valley to the west.
The hilltop falls very steep, almost vertically to the north and SSE. In East and South West the terrain is less steep and here the hill has two walls. Wall number 1 follows the hills entire eastern edge in a length of 40 metres and is oriented North to South. Wall number 2 follows the hills West-South West edge. It starts in North West and goes on for 7 metres before beeing broken by a 1-1,5 wide opening in the wall. From this opening it is a footpath bricked up by stones down to the old road in South West. The wall continues in a South East direction and turns East in a length of 22 metres before ending on the hills SSE side where the terrain is very steep.
The wall is in its entire length mostly collapsed and buildt up by smaller rocks with some larger boulders. With the entrance and in the eastern wall there is a number of almost completely round stones. The inner hillfort area have a lot of steep cliffs and rocky outcrops. The hillfort has a dominating location and from here it would have been possible to observe the entire valley.
