Duncans Landing Rockshelter is the oldest recorded site of occupation on the North Coast of California (about 9,000 years B.P.). Duncans Landing (SON-348) is an ancient sea-arch cave formed around 500,000 years ago, which sits on the coastal bluff in Kashaya Pomo country.

There were a few shell mounds which once accompanied the rockshelter. The shell fragments and black mound earth is seen all around the perimeter of the rock, with concentrations in and around the openings of Duncans Landing Rockshelter. SON-348 was first recorded by Nels Nelson in 1909.
