Artificial Mound in The West. Bodega Harbor Shellmound (SON-320) is in the northwest corner of Miwok country. Lying on the western shore of Bodega Harbor with only it's eastern slope exposed beneath 4 or 5 feet of grassy dune which covers most of the peninsula. Made visible when the original ranch road was cut into dune and mound.
The estimated height of the shellmound is 4 to 8 feet, but the true size of the mound lay hidden beneath the dunes. Two burials have been found at sit SON-320 one skeleton found on a bed of redwood in a east west direction(with head to the west), as well as many obsidian and shell tools, beads, and several charmstones.
