The original location of these standing stones was further down the hill close to the sea. As they were in danger of falling down in the early 1900s they were removed from the original location by a local rifle club and moved further up from the sea to the top of the hill overlooking the sea.

Written records from the 1700s, tells of three standing stones on a line just by the shore and two further to the east. The placement of the stones today is not the historical correct one.

They have been dated to the iron age, about 500-1000AD. There have been several barrow mounds nearby, but these have been erased. Several iron age artifacts have been found in this area. The bay to the east has probably been a excellent harbour.

The two tallest standing stones are about 1.9 to 2 metres in height, and from 40 to 50 cm wide. They have a very thick shape with an almost square-shaped cross section. The two smallest stones are about 70-90Cm in height and from 30-40Cm wide. They are placed with about 1 metre between them in a grassy meadow just by the main road through the village with a beautiful view over the Trondheimsfjord.
