Artificial Mound in Västmanland

Magnificent mound and smaller mounds, standing stones, 'stone-ships' and runestones. Situated on the eastern outskirts of the city Västerås, close to the local international airport (VST) - some 100 km west of Stockholm along the E18 to Oslo. Roadsign 'Anundshög' clearly visible. Take exit 137 and follow the signs. Free parking and access, visitor information and refreshments.

Anundshög Mound submitted by DrewParsons : Approaching the site from the car park and café. Anundshög mound is the larger more distant mound. There are other mounds and amazing ship burials in the immediate vicinity. September 2011.

Anundshög Mound submitted by DrewParsons : One of the many site signs here. This one describes a 3500 year old port facility excavated near the mound. During the Bronze Age around 1400 BC the shoreline was very close to the mound. September 2011.
