Possible Stone Circle in Cumbria. A site found by myself and my brother around 30 years ago and still not officially recorded as far as I know. The site is easy accessed from the Newbiggin Rd through an overgrown coppice known as Tarn Plantation and is in a fenced off area along a footpath. The area is overgrown with brambles and ferns but easily recognised for what it is, a ruined henge or circle.

There are at least ten stones standing or overturned and an outlier which has been toppled over and broken in two parts, standing would have been around eight feet high. The nearest recorded site is the Kitchen Hill megalith which stands alongside the West Coast main line some five miles to the south. The whole site is dominated by a gnarled oak tree and appears to be standing on a low mound and the atmosphere of the place can best be described as "unwelcoming" even in the best of weather.

There is nothing on Pastscape for this site, although there are two records for Neolithic stone axes found (a) in Messrs Leslie's nursery garden at Durdar in 1943 and (b) a polished axe of crystalline rock found near Ratten Row, Durdar in 1891. Both are now in Tullie House Museum.
