Pen y Fan Cairn submitted by cerrig : The rebuilt cairn, in all it's glory. Looking North West. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Pen y Fan is the highest peak in southern Britain, and it's Cairn sits on the highest point. The views are breathtaking on a clear day, with the whole of the Beacons range surrounding you, and 100 mile plus distance sightings possible.

This is a very popular walk, it takes about an hour up a steepish path for an average person from the Storey arms on the A470 below, but there are many other routes up besides.

The cairn itself has been excavated and rebuilt, so is now looking quite tidy.
