Petit Mont

Petit Mont submitted by AlexHunger on 20th Dec 2004. Log Text: Extensive views for miles from the ramparts, despite being a low hill. Enjoyable walk on a well cared for Hillfort. The southern half and large central area is being grazed by black soay/hebridean sheep (Iron Age sheep) to keep the bracken away - it can damage the archaeology.

Egryn Abbey, Hengwm, Round Hut Excavated By Ardudwy Early Landscapes Project submitted by pab on 21st Jun 2008. Mynydd Egryn (Mount Egryn). Midway between the 2 tombs of Carneddau Hengwm and the crown-effect cairn circle of Hengwm on the slopes of Mynydd Egryn. A series of circles seem to have been recently excavated. This picture looks over the circle towards NE (the top of Moelfre bearing 11' if that helps locate it)

Log Text: Absolute pleasure to visit here on a sunny day. We usually make it at least once a year and are getting to know the layout of the sites quite well. There are more hut circles to be found in this enormous field and the field next door, but the gorse is getting quite high so it takes a bit of detective work to match them up with the records. Something to look forward to next year.

Yes, this is Moel Geodog East circle in the foreground, but Moel Geodog West circle is visible right of centre just above the large recumbent stone. What this photo actually shows is the extent of the work in Moel Geodog West field. A red digger is just visible on the track behind the piled clearance stones on the right hand side of the picture.
