It was quite eerie up there. I can see why the Celts chose the site.
It was perhaps the site of Sabinus v Viridorix.
See http://www.oppida.org/page.php?lg=fr&rub=00&id_oppidum=59
I walked around the edge of the site on a public footpath. Access to the site itself was not possible! Access interdit!!

Désertines menhir submitted by ocdolmen on 16th Aug 2009. Standing up on the place of the village, Désertines's stele is sculptured, on one of the faces of a haloed cross. Two metres tall, this christianized megalith was formerly attached to the ancient church. Quite as the menhir, the Gallic stele is a raised stone, carefully cut. Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: France (Bretagne:Finistère (29))
Visited: Would like to visit

Kerloas menhir submitted by thecaptain on 23rd Jun 2006. This is the biggest standing menhir in Europe, if not the world, at nearly 10 metres tall, and has lost the top 2 metres after a lightning strike!
The stone, which is not local and has been brought to this hilltop site from more than 2.5 kilometres away, has been beautifully shaped, and tapers both into the ground, and up to a point.
