Log Text: The cows here were funny - every time I looked they froze, every time i went back to my RSC meditations they advanced. We made a meal of getting to the circle, climbing over some walls and fences. There's prob an easier way. A farm that used to be derelict has now been converted into residential so maybe that was the old parking spot.

Fullerton submitted by cosmic on 8th May 2004. The Standing Stone at NJ783180 in Aberdeenshire is just off the A96 in Aberdeen shire between Kintore and Inverurie but is difficult to spot as it is just on the edge of a clump of trees and fom the road just looks like a tree stump. Indeed it has been used along with the tree next to it as the base for a rope swing until I removed the plank.

Mither Tap submitted by cosmic on 28th Dec 2003. Mither Tap at NJ 682 224
This the third highest hill fort surrounds the bare granite rock outcrop of the most easterly of the Bennachie summits. Although not the highest point of the Bennachie massif it is the most prominent.
The site was occupied between 1000BC and 1000AD with at least two sets of defences.
The main defence, formed by a well-built stone wall running from N to SE about 30 m below the summit of the outcrop, is clearly marked.
In places, the wall-faces and traces of a...

Candy submitted by golux on 20th Mar 2011. Recorded in 1902 as being the sole survivor of a stone circle. The line of trees behind mark the boundary of the garden in which it stands, planted in 1978 by the owner (and builder) of the house, as he informed me.
I would imagine that the name "Candy", the name of the farm around here, is derived from the same root as Knockandy Hill behind it. (:Cnoc" is gaelic for hill.)

St Drostan's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 13th Sep 2006. Heading east on the B9031 take a left turn (toward the sea) just before New Aberdour. The road passes Old Aberdour Church before ending in a carpark at the shingle beach. The well is just to the east of the carpark at the base of a hill.
St Drostan used the water of this spring to baptise local people and was famed for his miracle cures. St Drostan died at Glenesk in 809AD. His remains were conveyed from Glenesk to Aberdour where they were placed in a stone coffin and long believed to w...
