Log Text: The wave like or oceanic feeling of the rock itself makes sense of a shamanistic search for things that shift between forms. and levels. rock is water. and the circles do look like the ripples on a lake.

Anta de Pendilhe
Date Added: 2nd Jun 2018
Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: Portugal (Viseu)
Visited: Would like to visit
Anta de Pendilhe submitted by Alta-Falisa on 30th Mar 2015. I confess that the photo by João Carvalho, July 2005, is far superior to my modest contribution.
While there myself (March 2015), I met a shepherd. It was very heart-warming to realise how pleased he was to see a foreigner, speaking some kind of broken Portuguese, showing so much interest for a monument along which he passes every day.

Log Text: Usually these fusion sites do not work for but this one was an exception. The location majesty of the Dolmen and the church in ruins synergies well as a site. Perhaps the presence of teh church wall which substitutes for the berm of the original mound helps the ambiance of the site.
Anta da Arca

Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: Portugal (Viseu)
Visited: Would like to visit
Anta da Arca submitted by Alta-Falisa on 28th Mar 2015. Strangely enough, this remarkable dolmen is not signposted anywhere. On the site, a board laconicaly says "Anta". However, even reduced to its few surviving components : a capstone, three uprights and a few smaller stones, Anta de Arca (the name of the nearby village) is one of the most elegant in Northern Portugal. Photo : March 2015.

Log Text: I went to the museum. The staff was extremely helpful and I met the people responsible for the conservation of the monument. They took me to the site. They have a very important job because the painting inside is, as far as I know, one of a kind. This is a truly remarkable world treasure. The paintings are in a very good state of preservation.
