Beneath Pembroke Castle This cave, called Wogan Cavern, was home to early human dwellers long before Pembroke Castle came to be built on the rocky outcrop above. The cave was incorporated into the castle as a storage room by bricking up the entrance and cutting a spiral staircase down through the rock to the entrance seen on the far side.
It's usually full of people, but a few minutes patience led to this moment of emptiness - the voices of the next visitors can already be heard on the stairs!...
