Ffyst Samson (Trellys)

Ffyst Samson (Trellys) submitted by Johnny on 17th Sep 2001. Ffyst Samson neolithic chamber (SM 906 349) is otherwise known as Trellys, St. Nicholas. It is bizarre in appearance, consisting of a capstone apparently delicately balanced on just two tall pointed supporting stones. Although difficult to reach, the effort required is worthwhile!

Herefordshire Beacon

Herefordshire Beacon submitted by Jimwithnoname on 25th Jul 2011. Picture taken facing North. The sheer enormity of this site is difficult to comprehend. This is probably the windiest and coldest of all the hills on the Malvern's, in all seasons, and so the thought of anybody living there, let alone building a castle on the top.. These hills are of some of the oldest granite in the world. Malvern is famed for it's spring water cures in the Victorian era; it's real history runs far deeper.

Holyhead Mountain

Holyhead Mountain submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Heather and gauze now cover most of the site here. I'm sure the people were hardy, but I think they would have been very warm in their homes. I would love to live in one, or at least give it a try :)

Jubilee Hill barrow submitted by Jimwithnoname on 23rd Sep 2019. As mentioned in other images, remains of the two barrows still visible along the ridge of the Malvern hills. There is also a scar on North hill which is all that is left of another barrow, long since destroyed.

King's Quoit, Manorbier

King's Quoit, Manorbier submitted by sem on 25th Aug 2004. Looking SW,the view here is outstanding. This must have been a very sought after plot of Neolithic real-estate.It is set in a hollow on the cliffside lined with stones bigger than any but the capstone.Children & Nash suggest "no covering mound would have existed because the ledge.....is far too narrow." La Roche Longue (Quintin)

La Roche Longue (Quintin) submitted by Jimwithnoname on 14th Jul 2011. Now closely planted in a farmer's field, this tall menhir is much thinner at it's base. I couldn't quite get the best angle to show you because of the crops. There is also a smaller menhir most likely connected, at the bottom of the field on the opposite side of the lane. It stands about 1.5 mtrs high at the edge of the field. Site in Bretagne:Côtes-D'Armor (22) France
