Westfield Farm Refuge Stone
Date Added: 28th Dec 2024
Site Type: Early Christian Sculptured Stone
Country: Scotland (West Lothian)
Visited: Would like to visit

Westfield Farm Refuge Stone submitted by Anne T on 11th Oct 2017. One of the other faces of the stone, where it shows slight traces of damage, presumably from having been toppled and re-erected. If the 1998 excavation report from Historic Scotland is correct, this stone may be prehistoric and associated with a larger prehistoric site, maybe having been reused as a Refuge Stone after the establishment of Torphichen Preceptory.

Twyford Down monument submitted by JimChampion on 16th Feb 2014. 15 February 2014. The damaged monument stone on Twyford down, looking towards the rising Moon. The side with the inscription is face down on the grass - the stump in the ground to the left. I think it very unlikely that the stone blew down in the recent storms.

Seven Barrows (Hampshire) submitted by wiztwas on 29th Aug 2005. Only four barrows that can be seen from the north bound A34. The first and biggest is spoilt by not only the road noise, but also the high voltage powerlines crackling overhead.
The other three barrows can not be seen from this side.
You can see one of the others, on the other side of the road, from the road.

Lugbury submitted by theCaptain on 9th Feb 2010. Was passing by Lugbury at the weekend, a damp and misty February day, so I called in for a look to see how it was faring, and was pleasantly surprised.
Most of the growth has been cleared from around the stones, and most of the junk and tree trunks have been cleared from the remains of the mound.
