This photo was taken from the observing platform that is set on the east side of the connecting "road" between the circle and octagon in the "Octagon" earthwork site. Looking northeast toward the octagon. The small loaf-shaped mound at the end of the road blocks the view if you were entering the octagon by the "road". The assumed positions of two missing chamber orthostats and two passage orthostats are marked by concrete-implements. The remains of the chamber are still surrounded by significant remains of the covering barrow. Chamber length 7,3m (clear 6m) Width varies from 3m to 3,4m (clear 2m) The chamber is deeply embedded into the sandy ground. All orthostats were (and still are) preserved in situ when van Giffen examined the site in the early 20th century. Capstones C1 (counting from the North) and C2 were robbed, C3 was fallen and C4 in situ. Obviously C3 was placed back on its orthostats and C2 probably was replaced. Dolmen de la Rouyre submitted by thecaptain on 10th Mar 2006. High up on this mountain ridge between the villages of Fesluns and Ansignan in Pyrénées-Orientales can be found the remains of this cute little dolmen. Its a tiny little thing, just 2 metres in length by 1 metre wide, and a metre high.

Moli del Vent

Moli del Vent submitted by thecaptain on 3rd Mar 2006. This lovely little dolmen-a-couloir is approached by an entry corridor from the southern edge of the cairn. The chamber is topped by a gorgeously shaped capstone. The views from up here are superb, with the Fenouillades valley to the north.
