Mehmke Steingrab 2 submitted by holger_rix on 6th Nov 2009. Chamber with three pairs of uprights on the long sides, rectangle shape 4m x 1.4m. Five of the eight orthostats remain and three capstones. But almost all these stones have been moved or are out of place, so the tomb gives the impression of just a pile of big stones.

Molmke Steingrab

Molmke Steingrab submitted by holger_rix on 30th Oct 2009. 1.4km west of the small village Molmke, south of Diesdorf, not far from Diesdorf Steingrab 3, there is another typical 'Altmark Grossdolmen' with enclosure. And same as the other barrows in the area, the enclosure has two oversized guardian stones in the corners of the south-east end. Unfortunately the NW part of the enclosure is missing. Thats exactly where the comparative well preserved chamber is located. There is something unusual about this chamber. It has a trapezoid shape, ...

Tomb No. 2 is located just 100m west of the easily spotted hilltop. Same as tomb No. 3, you can only reach it if you can walk over the fields. Schadewohl 2 (or Tomb 38 according to the official book 'Großsteingräber in der Altmark') is an Extended Dolmen with four pairs of uprights on the long sides, and a single stone on the short. Chamber size 5.7m x 1....

Wanna Steingrab (11b)

Wanna Steingrab (11b) submitted by Andreas on 23rd Sep 2009. The reconstructed tomb at Osterwanna: Due to the threat of sinking into the marshy soil the remains of the tomb were transferred to Wanna. Here the chamber was reconstructed. The recent localisation is close to the school at Osterwanna, a few meters north of the Landesstraße (L 118), about 100 meters west of the sports field. The reconstruction shows a "5 yokes-chamber", consisting of 5 capstones, 10 supporting stones at the long sides and 2 further uprights at the narrow sides. There's...
