Ness of Burgi submitted by PAB on 22nd Oct 2006. The Fort on the Ness of Burgi, looking west from the coastline. This Fort faces across the bay to Jarsloff and the ramparts of Tonga Fort.
The Royal Commission for Ancient & Historical Monuments in Scotland (RCAHMS) describes the Fort as: "A gatehouse fort, probably datable to about 100 BC, isolated by a rampart, with a ditch on either side, cutting across the neck of the peninsula on which it stands."
It notes that the site was excavated in 1935, and again in 1983 when 'a single cutt...

Another monument restored using bricks and also has a broken capstone. Would have been originally covered with a cairn and entered via a short passage from the north east.

Timber support which features in most photos on Portal has now been removed, so the more southerly chamber looks even better.
Delightful location - the walk over the field feels more like a procession, with the chambers looking more impressive all the time.

Lligwy Burial Chamber
Date Added: 26th Sep 2014
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: Wales (Anglesey)
Visited: Yes. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 3

Lligwy Burial Chamber submitted by Jimwithnoname on 8th Sep 2011. Amazing dolmen and very unnerving sat underneath the 25 ton capstone. It's perched on very little it seems on the one side. The warden approached us as we sat eating at the site. He asked if we were thinking of stopping the night, which we were, but as he said. that's a no no. We respected him and moved on after our picnic. He was quite pleasant and only doing his job. Many people wild camp as he said, and set fire to crops or drive through hedges!

Din Lligwy submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Jul 2002. Lligwy Ancient Settlement SH497861
This settlement, NW from Moelfre and not far from the Lligwy burial chamber is huge! A short walk from parking space for maybe 3 cars, through woodland, this location can occupy a considerable amount of time exploring the nooks & crannies of this probable 4th century AD settlement.

St Seiriol's Well submitted by AngieLake on 5th Aug 2004. According to the invaluable CADW (Welsh Historical Monuments) booklet, 'Anglesey - A Guide to Ancient Monuments on the Isle of Anglesey' :
"Traditionally, this well was thought to be associated with the early native Welsh monastic settlement at Penmon. Indeed, the well and adjacent 'cell', or chamber, were reputedly linked with St Seriol himself. What survives today, however, is probably very much later. The well is one of many examples in Wales linked with a local saint. Such wells were t...

This is in the nave, and taken in very poorly lit conditions; I did not have my tripod with me, so this was one of a number attempts at getting a decent picture!

Ffynnon Fair (Trefnant) submitted by coin on 22nd Apr 2014. Detail plan of the well basin.
"The site lies in a meadow about 100 yards north of the River Elwy at the foot of a steep woodland slope half a mile west of the A.525 road from Denbigh to St. Asaph and three miles from the latter. North of the bridge by which the A.525 crosses the Elwy is a narrow lane to the west, sign posted to Cefn, and some 400 yards along this lane is a fork at which the track drops almost to the river. At this point was once a ford and the chapel lies about a quarter of ...
