Log Text: This stone has an unusual cluster of small cups in a circular arrangement (I'm not sure I buy the idea that it's a spiral) as well as some larger cups and probable grooves. It's the most interesting of the carved stones in this field.
It's a wonderful site, dominated by Simon's Seat to the south, and long views to the south west and west. The confluence of two streams sits just to the north of the site. You can understand why this hillside was chosen for this prehistoric activity.
Unfortunately it's hard to access the field, even though it's just over the wall from a track. The walls are high and well maintained, and some have wire fencing above the level of the wall. There are ways in, but it's not easy. It's a fair walk from the nearest road too.

Log Text: This is a beast of a stone, with dozens of cups on its upper surface (and in some places down the sides). I'm surprised it's not better known.
The stone is now built into the wall of what is likely to be an ancient green lane (close to the summit of Black Hill Road), and could perhaps have been a marker of the path. The stones that had previously covered the top of the stone have been removed which gives a better view.
It's a bit of a walk to get to it, whichever way you choose to do so, but it's very easy to find once you're on the path.

Log Text: Sits very close to the road, with an official sign.
This extraordinary landscape is littered with prehistoric remains - wedge tombs, at least one court tomb, cairns, standing stones and large erratics, as well as other ancient enclosures and walling of indeterminate age, much of it apparently undocumented. There is lots more than is currently included on the Megalithic Portal, and some of those that are included have inaccurate location info which makes them hard to find between the walls and the densely packed hazel trees. Lots to explore if you have time on your side.

A wedge tomb now partly incorporated into a wall. A lot of the surrounding cairn survives and there are indications of a second gallery.

Log Text: Probably a 2.5 for Condition. The double chamber and entrance are clearly apparent, with a number of standing stones giving a clear idea of the shape of the tomb. It was quite hard to find the site using the GPS on the app, so I have submitted a more accurate location
