Lande de Rousse
Date Added: 1st Aug 2020
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: France (Bretagne:Morbihan (56))
Visited: Yes on 19th Jul 2020. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 3 Access 3

Lande de Rousse submitted by TheCaptain on 2nd Jun 2007. Deep into the forest is what looked to me to be a row of fallen menhirs, with one large rock still protruding from the ground.
It wouldn't surprise me if there was another row here, like some of those at the nearby Pierres Droites, or perhaps something like La Pièce Couverte.

Log Text: We found another row running roughly NE / SW at 47.88779, -2.20002, so it may be part of the same alignment as The Captain said.

La Roche Blanche submitted by TheCaptain on 2nd Jun 2007. This is a nice shining white quartz block within a circle of local schist stones.
It is thought to probably mark the grave of an individual, rather than being a collective grave.

Log Text: Just what it says, a white rock. It is however nicely tended, and when we were there in July it was surrounded by blooming shrubs.

Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: France (Bretagne:Morbihan (56))

Grand Breuil menhir submitted by theCaptain on 7th Jul 2011. The stone is about 3 metres tall, and in a little grassy area beside the road junction.

Log Text: For being so large and so close to the road, this menhir is quite hard to find. What was once a nice grassy area is now fully overgrown with brushy trees that stand taller than the stone. If you know it is there and were to look, you can catch glimpses of it through the greenery.

Log Text: The walk from the parking area to the menhirs was simply spectacular. A cool summer morning out of the hot sun, surrounded by ferns and mosses - It reminded me of my beloved Oregon. But Oregon does not have menhirs!

St-Pierre-Quiberon Alignement submitted by thecaptain on 12th Jun 2006. Out on the Quiberon Peninsula, near to the Kerbourgnec cromlech can be found a pleasant little park with the remains of these alignements in it.
The stones are of all shapes and sizes, up to 4 metres tall. There's a lovely curved "sharks fin" in front of me as I sat and wrote this, and a diamond to my right. These stones are wonderful, and its lovely to be able to just sit amongst them.
