"La pierre plate" consists then in a cap stone 2m by 0.90. On the other side of the road we find a small cap stone of bearly 1m long by 0.60 but this small one is broken and has been repared by a blacksmith.

Saint Roch menhir

Saint Roch menhir submitted by thecaptain on 28th Jun 2006. This menhir can be found by following marked footpaths for a mile or so from St-Nectaire to Croix-St-Roche, high up in the hills. It's about 2 metres tall, and made from a hexagonal block of crystalline volcanic basalt, the sort which they call orgues (organ pipes) round here. Very nice.

Bouyé dolmen

Bouyé dolmen submitted by thecaptain on 5th Jan 2006. To the southeast of Gramat, near the hamlet of Bouyé can be seen the remains of this double dolmen and its little mound. I could not get into the field for a close look, and thick hedges and trees made making out what is there, and getting photographs difficult.

Log Text: Dolmen de Bouyé near Gramat is situated in a private property, pictures can only be taken from the road. It called my attention 4 stones in the garden just opposite the dolmen, as they were also in a private property and there was nobody round I could not find out whether they were prehistoric or just placed there for decoration.

This dolmen is sitting on a small tumulus. There are a few heaps of stones round the area which could indicate the presence of a necropolis and I am submitting pictures of another dolmen sitting on a tumulus 150 metres away which we could call dolmen du Noutary III.

Dolmen de Candare 1

Dolmen de Candare 1 submitted by thecaptain on 5th Jan 2006. Tiny little dolmen sitting on the remains of its mound, under a bush just to the south of the road between Miers and Floirac. Not far from this dolmen is a peculiar, almost spherical black stone which looks most out of place, although I dont seem to have a photograph of it.

Log Text: Tiny dolmen, reminds me of the small dolmen found in Tineo, Asturias, in Merillés.
