Large capstone with small chamber, and long barrow still remain here. Hard to capture on film, but when viewed from the NW side, the size is better appreciated.

Tyfos

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 24th Feb 2007

Tyfos submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Feb 2007. Be warned - this ram can seriously ruin any attempts at decent photography, archaeological curiosity, or having some moments of reflection. Whilst visiting this morning, I unwittingly secured the misdirected amorous intentions of a lone ram. Having gained permission to visit, I entered the enclosure, whereupon the ram approached, sniffed my leg, and demonstrated that he would like my leg to have his babies... I've never encountered anything quite as comedic from a sheep. For 10 minutes I was da...

Tyddyn Bleiddyn
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Chambered Cairn
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 4th Oct 2004
Tyddyn Bleiddyn submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Oct 2004. Notice the contrast of the top stones to most of the wall of the property adjoining the location of the chambered cairn. The grooves seen here are inches deep, and seem very likely to have been taken from the cairn at some point.

Ty Newydd (Llanfaelog) submitted by TimPrevett on 3rd Jul 2002. Ty Newydd Burial Chamber SH345739
Visited Saturday 23rd September 2000
E Rhosneigr. Heading north from Barclodiad, turn left off A4080; it's a short distance up on the right on the Llanfaelog to Bryngwran road. Parking is on a narrow grass verge, followed by a short walk. From the road, this dolmen looked like a thin slab on top of two brick columns; in fact it is an enormous lintel stone, with some original supporting stones - but blatantly held up by these red brick uprights! Despite the o...

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead) submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Jul 2002. Nr Holyhead SH254810
Visited Tuesday 15th June 1999
Access: Very good. On road outside of Holyhead. Visible from the road, we parked up, and over a stile, this signposted stone is no problem to find. I believe it is just down the road from a burial chamber.
The stone: Much taller than me, maybe 8ft tall; sheep wool, bird poo and lichen decorated this one. It reminded me almost of a whippy ice-cream, twisted around to a conical point.

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Yorkshire (West))
Visited: Yes on 29th Oct 2002

Twelve Apostles (Yorks) submitted by TimPrevett on 29th Oct 2002. This site is seriously under threat. The stone to the left, and following the ring around, another 2 stones (alternating) are supported by boulders at the base. The stone at the front had been moved several feet since June - compare with the photo taken by Col also posted on the portal.

Trwyn Du
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Anglesey)
Visited: Yes on 23rd Apr 2007

Trwyn Du submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Apr 2007. The visible remains of the Bronze Age cairn, on top of a Mesolithic camp and flint scatter site. The only excavated mesolithic site in Gwynedd now looks out on the Estuary in front of the Aberffraw Sands. In 7000 BC, this would have been looking out onto a river valler, with sea levels considerably lower. This is a top spot - the elements and nature up here were great. Even on a very windy, dull day, as the SE of the country baked in sweltering heat!

Visited: Yes on 9th May 2003

Trethevy Quoit submitted by TimPrevett on 9th May 2003. Nothing quite prepares you for the scale of these stones in person. I said to my daughter that these stones would make us look small - and we were so gobsmacked when we arrived. As my daughter said, "It's a whopper!".

Trefignath submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Aug 2006. Interference at Trefignath; I visited here with a client in mid June, and the stones had been interfered with - these had been stacked up; others had been too, but nothing on the capstone. Will get on to CADW this afternoon.

Trearddur standing stone submitted by TimPrevett on 2nd Jul 2002. Trearddur SH267788
Visited Tuesday 15th June 1999
Access: By a long lane off the B4545 south east from Holyhead. If you meet anyone else in a car along this lane, you are in trouble! Turning around was also problematical. Pulling back on to the main road was also a nightmare due to blind corners. The stone is to the left of the path in front of the windmill.
The stone: small and dumpy, and the most densely lichen-covered stone I had seen - with tall stemmed plants over much of it. It overloo...

Tre-Gwehelydd submitted by TimPrevett on 15th Feb 2007. The most unusual spectacle I think I have ever seen - a standing stone held together with huge metal braces.
