Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 16th Aug 2005

Newmead Farm submitted by TimPrevett on 16th Aug 2005. A close up of the more smooth, narrow end. It's amazing how stones sneak in when you plan a day without them. For my daughter's birthday, we were going to the excellent Quackers Childrens' Play Centre (see www.quackersnow.com ) only a few minutes from the campsite, which we did.
On one occasion I returned to the car for some water, and there was a large boulder looking at me, as it were, from an adjoining field. I obtained permission from the venue, which was fine, subject to the presence of l...

Newbridge on Wye
Date Added: 18th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 8th Sep 2005

Newbridge on Wye submitted by TimPrevett on 8th Sep 2005. The eastern side of the stone, picture looking west. This stone is just over 5 feet tall, heavily leaning, with what appears like cairn material around the base. It is adjacent a football pitch, and access is no problem. Parking to the north in a large layby. This stone is also the first I have ever driven to, so is a notable megalith for me! When I've passed my test, hopefully many more will come.

Site Type: Round Barrow(s)
Country: England (Cheshire)
Visited: Yes on 21st Jan 2006

Nether Knutsford submitted by TimPrevett on 21st Jan 2006. Not a lot to see here. Something for the enthusiast with an active imagination. Allegedly the remains of a round barrow. Can find nothing in the SMR. Arguably, I found a slight raised area to the SW of St Cross Church, N of Branden Drive, with a circular depressed area around it (circled in pic). This was the most convincing thing I could find that there was something here. Just to the W there was a small mound among some trees near the footpath, but I did not find that so convincing. Thoughts a...

National Museum of Scotland submitted by TimPrevett on 22nd Feb 2009. The entrance to the National Museum of Scotland; I only had 40 minutes to zoom around here before closing (having been distracted by the fantastic Greyfriars Churchyard opposite). What I saw was very good, and very family friendly. Edinburgh is one of the most amazing cities I have been to, so a return visit will be in order sometime!

The subtle contours in the field give some evidence of the massive henge once in this field, equal in size to Avebury.
