Carn Fadrun

Carn Fadrun submitted by Postman on 19th Jun 2015. The strongest contender for the bronze age robbed cist, a robbed cist with some cairn material left over, overlaid by the fort wall, sounds like looking for a needle in a haystack... a haystack made of needles. But it's in the right place and I can imagine a cist once being where the green low bushes are now.

Ty Illtyd Chambered Cairn

Ty Illtyd Chambered Cairn submitted by Johnny on 18th Sep 2001. Ty Illtyd Chambered Long Cairn (Powys, S0 098 264) This site, high up on a hilltop ridge above Llamhamlach, commands panoramic views along the floodplains of the Usk river. Bencallen Hill

Bencallen Hill submitted by PaulM on 29th Oct 2002. Shiel Bridge/Bencallen chambered tomb Good navigation is needed to find this cairn as the landscape is pretty featureless (NX33779440). Luckily for us the conifers had been recently cleared. There is parking (just) but the lane is very quiet. I dived up the slope and headed in the vague general direction but struck lucky. Another strange site as the cairn cover has been robbed for drystone walls which all seemed to have been built to hem in the chamber or perhaps as sheepfolds. All t...
