Log Text: Thurston St lot the best for access. A bit of a long hike on the first side trail heading east off of Megley Trail, but one plus is that the same trail brings you right by several other sites. Last bit is a 200-300 ft bushwhack into woods and the enclosure is not easily spotted from a distance.

Foxborough Prayer Seat (10)

Foxborough Prayer Seat (10) submitted by stonetracker on 24th Jan 2023. This is a rather damaged U-shaped enclosure that utilizes an outcrop for its back wall. It is unclear whether the stones were placed by man or nature, but they do have what looks like a deliberate arrangement.
(View photo, vote or add a comment)

Log Text: Site Y on published map. Trail access and parking is the same as Foxborough Prayer Seat 3. The site is 400-500 ft SE of the latter, on an outcrop in relatively open woods. A bit difficult to spot.

Foxborough Perched Boulder (2) submitted by stonetracker on 12th Jan 2023. Propped boulder on prominent ledge. Possibly just a geological/glacial feature but to.my eyes the props look deliberately placed.

This standing stone was originally twice as tall but the top half broke off sometime between 2003 and 2017. The broken half is lying on the ground in the foreground. The buttress stones are still there. Clearly manmade.

Log Text: An update on access. This site is accessed from a trail north from Megley, opposite the Dolmen site trailhead. Climb up trail 100 yds or so onto open ledges. Just after the ledges, turn right and bushwhack into the woods about 75 ft. Site is very difficult to spot from trail as it is surrounded by trees; GPS is helpful.

Foxborough Prayer Seat (7)

Foxborough Prayer Seat (7) submitted by stonetracker on 23rd Jan 2023. Took some effort to find, as it is in the bushes. The U-shaped enclosure, which could be a prayer seat, has settled a bit into the topsoil.

Log Text: Revisited. No change but added a photo. This site is located in difficult terrain, as it is deep in a valley with steep sides and no direct trail. If you approach from the south, be prepared to cross a wetland.

Log Text: This is a so-called Chaco canyon outlier great house site built in the 1100s CE. It is accessible via a 1/4 to 1/2 Mile hike up a hill behind the Canyons of the Ancients Museum. Those like me who live close to sea level may want to take it easy with high elevation trail walking at first until they get acclimated. The trail is switch backed with benches, great views, and good interpretation of local flora. The entire route is paved to the top and likely wheelchair accessible.
