stonetracker visited on 1st Jan 2023 Revisited this (Site N) recently. No changes, but got better photos. Also located rockpile nearby.

stonetracker visited on 1st Feb 2017 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 2 Thurston St lot the best for access. A bit of a long hike on the first side trail heading east off of Megley Trail, but one plus is that the same trail brings you right by several other sites. Last bit is a 200-300 ft bushwhack into woods and the enclosure is not easily spotted from a distance.

Foxborough Stone Ring
Foxborough Stone Ring submitted by kjsmith : Foxboro State Forest Accessable to the public This is the stone ring listed on their website at this Lat/Long There is another, but it isn't on Google Earth (Vote or comment on this photo)
This site overlooks a wetland from a prominent hillside location. This is a fairly typical location for stone structures in Mass. The closed circular enclosure is unusual with no opening, so I doubt it had practical use as an animal pen. Also located a well-built rockpile maybe 100 ft to the SW. A curious ring of stones in F. Gilbert Hills State Forest (also known as Foxboro Forest). Possible pointer stone at base. Dimensions of the structure are 8 feet long by 6 feet wide. About 1/2 mile south off of the Megley Trail on trail indicated on map. Located on the left hand side, about 200 feet off the trail, very hard to see. Recently made stone pile nearby.

GPS Position: N 42º 03.015', W 71º 16.982' (accurate to 32 feet) Altitude 344 feet

Lots more sites listed on this map to explore - we have added the locations to our database but need photos and more information.

Note: Do we have any readers living near Foxborough or Wrentham, between Boston and Providence Massachusetts? There are dozens of strange rock formations in this forest to explore. More information and links on this page - please send photos!

Foxborough Stone Ring
Foxborough Stone Ring submitted by stonetracker : This rock pile is unusual in that it has a hollow core, suggesting that it functioned as a post hole or holder for some object (most large rock piles in Mass are packed stones top to bottom with no empty space). I am standing on the support rock looking down into the hollow center of the rock pile. (Vote or comment on this photo)

I would describe this as a small circular stone enclosure. I looked for signs of charring indicating use as a fireplace but don't recall seeing any. Don't remember if I located the stone pile nearby or not.

Best bet in NE: Burnt Hill in Heath, MA.
Didn't check to see if it's in the MP roster, but an impressive site.
Also, there's the "Indian Stones" of Dayville, RI, right at the intersection of two state highways. A stone circle, that last

Ive been to most of the Foxboro sites although its been 6 or 7 yrs. Back then i wasnt as careful about documenting descriptions/locations of photos as i am now. But ill post those im sure of. Need to revisit at some point. Its a publicly accessible state park, now officially named F. Gilbert Hills or some such, but everyone still calls it Foxboro State Forest. ;-)

Foxborough State Forest’s Mysterious Stones by Andy B on Monday, 02 January 2023
(User Info | Send a Message)
In this part of the forest known as the High Rock Woods, about two miles off Rte. 1, there are numerous mysterious stone structures that nobody has been able to explain with any certainty. Like the dolmen — a large, flat boulder perched neatly atop three other stones — that is situated on top of a large expanse of exposed ledge.
