Loch of Houlland submitted by pab on 28th Oct 2006. The broch at the Loch of Houlland is one of about 120 around the coast of Shetland. It is very close to the lighthouse at Echaness, which must have some of the most spectacular sea scenery in the UK. It would be hard to improve on the description given in the very informative guide I used in Shetland (written by Peter Guy: Walking the Coastline of Shetland, ISBN:1904746179) - "The broch dominates a small promontory which juts out from the NW into the loch.
