Dun Grugaig, also recorded as Caisteal Chonil. This is classified in the head entry as a Broch, and it is not far from the Glenelg brochs of Dun Troddan and Dun Telve. RCAHMS describes it as a galleried dun. It is horseshoe shaped, the open end of the horseshoe overlooking a steep cliff above the river. There are however traces of a shallow arc shaped wall closing the horseshoe above the cliff, although its foundations are considerable smaller than those of the horseshoe.

Neolithic cup and ring carvings were discovered this summer on the Binn, a hill just north of Burntisland. The hill is known simply as the Binn - a volcanic plug, the name is thought to be derived from the Brythonic Bryn - hill, degraded over the years simply to Binn.
