This is the most prominent of the marks but they all seem to be similar, ie 28 to 32 marks of varying length from a central natural groove in the rock. Tom Bennett in his book "3000 BC" suggest it is the start of a lunar calendar and shows the tidal height throughout one month, as can be viewed from that position.

Meini Gwyr submitted by PERKYPUFFIN on 9th Aug 2019. Meini Gwyn means 'Stone Man' and I propose that it is named after this tallest stone. The face of a man looking to the horizon is depicted on this stone. Stand behind the stone and you will see that the 'Man' is looking directly to the top of Foel Cwmcerwyn, the highest peak of the Preselis.

Carmarthen Museum submitted by PERKYPUFFIN on 11th Aug 2019. A stone with two carved faces. Approx one meter high stone with a head shape and carved faces.
It is in the "Roman" section of the museum but to me has the characteristics of being carved about 3000 BC, before the use of metallic chisels. Figurehead with two faces. Typical carving next to a Neolithic tomb. Found at a site 6 miles SW of Carmarthen.

Located just SW of the village of Mochlin, East of Ayr with public access.
A nice panel of rock art with combined motifs. The one above looks like an aeroplane.

Log Text: I was blown away, a super site in pristine condition. Best visited the hour before noon . Cross the stream ,after walking to the wood bottom middle of large field. Try and keep the site as it is, a tourist hotspot and it will be spoilt and damaged. Google Earth says it is closed., it never is but it is best to keep this site a secret one for future generations to enjoy.
