Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Yes on 5th Jul 2013

Burry Menhir submitted by pab on 5th Jul 2013. Looking over the larger (but fallen) stone in this field. On a clear day (as will be available for the Portal weekend in July!), Sweyne's Howe Burial Chamber will be visible directly beyond the arrowed 'Burry Lesser' Standing Stone.

Hardings Down West
Date Added: 21st Oct 2013
Site Type: Hillfort
Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Yes on 5th Jul 2013

Hardings Down West submitted by pab on 5th Jul 2013. The south-westerly edge of Hardings Down West, with sem providing both scale and perspective....
This hillfort is very deceptive - from the lane it looks fairly impressive, but its sheer scale is only appreciated when you reach the ramparts.
If you really can't enjoy this delightful location during the Portal event arranged as part of the Festival of Archaeology, follow the COFLEIN link on the site page to see a very impressive aerial image.
