Log Text: Viewed from campsite at Aberbran in the evening sunlight while we were in the Beacons for the 2010 Portal day, so this image was taken from 1 mile away.
No comments possible on access/condition etc for the site itself, but hopefully we will visit again sometime in the future.

Ty'n Y Pant Stone submitted by pab on 7th Aug 2011. Ty'n Y Pant Stone. The dragonfly is of course one of the oldest surviving creatures, so it seemed only right for us to wait until he had soaked up some sunshine.
He obviously thinks Ty'n Y Pant Stone is worthy of close inspection...anyone know otherwise?

Maengwyngweddew submitted by TimPrevett on 15th Aug 2005. Have you ever tried looking for a squat white standing stone, about 85cm tall, with uncertain directions, and a mountainside of sheep? Not easy. This took me two attempts. An aborted attempt on my birthday left me disappointed and frustrated, wishing I'd purchased the 1:25000, and not the 1:50000. Sob sob.
Thankfully, my family had pity upon me, and I returned a couple days later with new attitude and closer studying of the 1:50000 and guide book. This fresh approach helped me find this quartz...

Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans submitted by pab on 24th Feb 2008. Site in South Glamorgan Wales
The 'latest' addition to the magnificent buildings recontructed at St Fagans is the 13th Church of St Teilo. Re-opened in a ceremony on October 2007, this church has been presented in its pre-reformation interior mode.
The history of the re-siting of the church can be followed in either the BBC Wales site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southwest/sites/inpictures/pages/st_teilos.shtml?1) or on the Museum's own pages (http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/226/)

Margam Stones Museum submitted by pab on 30th Jun 2007. Margam. The Stones Museum contains items from the immediate vicinty, which has been inhabited for over 3000 years when bronze age settlers farmed Margam Mountain. The original Abbey of Margam was founded in 1147 and this picture captures some of the Abbey remains. These ruins are part of the Margam Park country park, adjacent to the Museum. The park/museum are a welcome break for travellers along the M4 (J38).

Cat Hole Cave
Date Added: 21st Oct 2013
Site Type: Cave or Rock Shelter
Country: Wales (West Glamorgan)
Visited: Yes on 29th Jan 2013

Cat Hole Cave submitted by pab on 29th Jan 2013. Cat Hole Cave interior. As access seems no longer possible, I thought people might like to see some photos from inside the cave.
This shows one of the recesses at the back of the cave - there were many niches like this, most being very narrow.
We didn't have particularly good lighting, so couldn't investigate properly. Seeing the cave definitely helped me understand the description of how the art was found, and how it might have been missed for so long too.
