Virtuous Well submitted by Thorgrim on 20th Jan 2004. The Virtuous Well was formerly known as St Anne's Well. Situated in Trellech at SO503051, the well is one of nine that were once here. Each was reputed to cure a different malady. You should drop a pebble into the well and make a wish. If many bubbles appear, then your wish will be granted, if only a few then you will be disappointed.

St Nectan's Glen submitted by Thorgrim on 29th Nov 2003. St Nectan's Glen has been described as amongst the ten most important spiritual sites in the country. (SX080885)
There never was a St Nectan, the name is a Christianised form of the Cornish water god - Nechtan. The way down to the water is steep and slippery, but so beautiful. Hundreds of clouties, messages and small offerings crowd the minute ledges of the steep sides of the glen. It can only be reached on foot, but it is well worth the effort.
The well house is at the entrance to the gl...

St Cybi's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 11th Dec 2004. St Cybi was a 6th century Cornishman who is said to have created this spring by striking a rock with his staff.
Climb the stone stile in the corner of the graveyard of the Parish Church in Langybi and then follow the fence line that runs at right angles to the graveyard wall. Once through the gorse at the far side of the field, a bridge will take you over a stream to the substantial ruins of St Cybi’s Wellhouse and the custodian’s house next to it. The well basin is in the centre of t...
