Les Roches-Hues

Les Roches-Hues submitted by thecaptain on 10th Nov 2009. Walking all the way around along the new private road and a view of a splendid menhir can be obtained, looking like it is in somebodies back garden.

Log Text: Visited the menhir today. It's now in the middle of a residential complex on private ground. The hedges in the back grew quite high, so no sight from the back road anymore, as well.

I talked to the owner of the home who just came back from shopping. He told me that this is not a real menhir but brought there about twenty years ago by the previous owner of the house.

Might be that this menhir actually belonged to the original alignement and was simply moved to this new location as garden deco.

Log Text: Coming from the city center of Iffendic you take the D31 until you cross a small bridge over Le Meu. Turn left on D63 and then the first to your right which is Rue des Genêts. There is a white sign already indicating the location of the menhir, as well.

Follow the road about 400m, then take the road to your left leading to La Chesnaie. Follow the road about 700m, then take the road to your left towards La Petite Barre. At the end of the road you can leave your car near the farm house and take the path which leads towards the menhir.

The location is actually quite nice, giving a view over the landscape. The menhir is still impressive though overgrown with braid. Must have looked great back in the days as it seems to be red granite.

The menhir is about 4m tall, slightly leaning towards West. Well worth a visit.

Gres de Saint-Meen dolmen

Gres de Saint-Meen dolmen submitted by MenhirHunters on 7th Sep 2014. This one can be easily missed as it is in a hollow. It's only 10m away from the foot path, located north. There seems to be only one stone remaining, about three meters in length.

Dolmen de Ville Goudier

Dolmen de Ville Goudier submitted by thecaptain on 20th Dec 2008. The stone is about 2 metres tall and fairly chunky. There are lots of other large stones around here also, the remains of a passage grave.

Log Text: Quite easily accessible when you take the road at the traffic light, coming from Ploubalay left. There is a small passage between two houses and a small handwritten sign indicates menhirs.

Ville-Tinguy dolmen

Date Added: 10th Mar 2014

Visited: Yes on 8th Mar 2014. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 4 Access 4

Ville-Tinguy dolmen

Ville-Tinguy dolmen submitted by thecaptain on 20th Dec 2008. I have seen this described as an allée couverte, but it looked more like a simple dolmen to me, unless there is much of it ruined and not visible amongst the crops. At least one capstone is held up proudly in place for all to see as they drive past.

Log Text: Since the last photos were taken it seems as if they have cleaned up the site and no more hedges cover the remaining stones. If you visit the site in spring, the crop is still low and you can walk right up to the dolmen rather easily.
