Brenig 6
Date Added: 8th Sep 2014
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Wales (Denbighshire)
Visited: Yes on 24th Aug 2014. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 4 Access 3

Brenig 6 submitted by TimPrevett on 20th Feb 2006. The small cairn of Brenig 6. Also reconstructed in situ, with posts denoting where posts contemporary with the cairn were discovered. Its low position in the landscape is puzzling. Most cairns sit high on ridges on spurs with good visibility in at least one direction. This does not. This view looks to the South West, with Maen Cleddau below the ridge.

Foel Fenlli submitted by TimPrevett on 27th Sep 2004. The north side of Foel Fenlli hillfort, a few minutes walk from the parking for Moel Famau.
The white dots on the lower slope are sheep, helping give a sense of the scale of the place. The road to Ruthin (from Mold) exits the picture lower right hand corner.

Moel Ty Uchaf submitted by DJMace on 9th Nov 2020. Very nice example of a cairn circle in a spectacular location and well worth the hike. A straight walk up the hill along a rough track after passing through two metal gates. Continue on up and the circle is on left hand side. You won't be disappointed.

On the lower slopes, to the left, you can see the newly restored figure of eight track in the heather which was created by illegal off-roaders, which runs the length of Llantysilio Mountains, an internationally designated Special Area of Conservation, and through the hillfort, a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Country: Wales (Conwy)

Brenig 51 submitted by TimPrevett on 13th Feb 2006. The reconstructed Platform Cairn, aka Brenig 51. This magnificent monument was a complete surprise - 26 small stones in a perfect circle, with a 7 metre wide flat cairn ring around, raised a couple feet above the ground. The most unusual cairn I have seen to date. Wonderful. This is a composite of 3 shots, looking to the S over Llyn Brenig.

Visited: Yes on 23rd Apr 2021. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 3 Access 2
Cefn Coch (Penmaenmawr) submitted by TimPrevett on 7th Apr 2004. This Circle is easily missed. As it is usually approached from Druids' Circle, it is not visible until you actually go over a slight rise just SW of the neighbouring Moelfre Stone Row / Alignment which can be mistaken as 278.
When reading descriptions of Circle 278 as a wide circular rubble bank, with fallen uprights, then coming across this (which I have missed on 2 previous visits to this area), it is unmistakeably Circle 278.
This is looking to the North East from the bank of Circle 278...
