St Lythans Burial Chamber is a highly accurate tool for determining the Winter Calendar and making this stunning Arrowhead light-beam at Midsummer. The 'Giants Grave' is a collection of ancient grave stones comprising two 11' high stone crosses and four hog-back stones. An excavation of the 'Giants Grave' showed a skeleton underneath with a sword. The four hogback stones surrounding the grave are said to represent wild boar he killed in nearby Inglewood Forest.

Pierce Wood Camp 1 submitted by jfarrar on 17th Oct 2019. The site is difficult to approach. The path on the map leads to the south-western entrance but it is very overgrown. The north-west corner can be more easily got to. This picture is of the south-west entrance from the interior.
The ramparts are large and appear to be of small boulders between one and two feet across, rather like Clee Hill. There is a small enclosure, also like Clee, but probably relatively modern. Interestingly, there is a low rampart on the north side which drops away...

Looking SW,the view here is outstanding.This must have been a very sought after plot of Neolithic real-estate.It is set in a hollow on the cliffside lined with stones bigger than any but the capstone.Children & Nash suggest "no covering mound would have existed because the ledge.....is far too narrow." (Logaston Press 2002)
