I searched for this circle for some time in a large area strewn with stones. I believe these two stones and the two in the distance form part of the circle but I am open to correction.

St Cedd was granted land by Ethelwald and aided by his brother, Chad, built a monastery near Lastingham. This well bears his name and the stones for the housing are said to have come from Rosedale Abbey. Probably a christianised pagan well.

Ffon-y-Cawr submitted by Johnny on 27th Nov 2001. Ffon-y-Cawr (The Giant's Staff) standing stone, Conwy, (GR: SH738 717). This slender solitary standing stone stands a short distance from the Maen-y-Bardd burial chamber with which it is linked in legend: the stone is reputed to have been thrown by a giant at his dog which was lazing in the chamber!
