The Ladywell submitted by DavidCWoods on 26th Sep 2004. The well contains inscriptions "Ye Ancient Ladye Well" and "Restored 1902" together with a lot of more recent carvings. Not absolutely sure whether the decoration represents plants, serpants or something else.

One of the larger hut circles within the settlement, again incorporated into the walling. Unlike some of the HCs here, this had a discernable entrance facing NW.
Bits of the settlement don’t look particularly prehistoric, I felt this was 1 such area.

Log Text: First visit today, which is a big embarrassing because it’s less than 30 minutes from my house. I had no idea. And please/surprised to learn that it might be one of the oldest hill forts in the country. Fabulous views in all directions (yes, even if Swindon) and hardly anyone there.
Don’t miss the WWII control bunker for the “starfish site”on the way up from the road.
Parking isn’t easy; try “Swindon View” a bit further down the road.

Temple of Hephaestos submitted by AlexHunger on 22nd Aug 2006. Classic 5th century temple also known as the Theseon, after Theseus, since the midle ages when the pagan gods were forgotten. It is suposed to be the temple in the best condition in Greece, only rivaled by those in Sicilly.

The Antikythera Mechanism, an ancient Greek astronomical calculator, has challenged researchers since its discovery in 1901. Now split into 82 fragments, only a third of the original survives, including 30 corroded bronze gearwheels.
