Site Type: Long Barrow
Country: England (Gloucestershire)
Visited: Yes on 25th Jul 2022. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 3

Gatcombe Lodge submitted by thecaptain on 24th Mar 2009. Having read several tales of people being stopped and questioned by rapidly arriving police here, I didn’t spend long, and just took a photo from the entry to the estate.
It looks to be the regular shapeless lumpy bumpy mess covered in trees.

Log Text: site is fenced and has mature trees grown on it. these will have destroyed much of the internal structure. Gatcombe is a royal residence with security staff so it is not advisable to go on the land, and there's nout to see anyway.

Cubbie Roo's Burden submitted by TimPrevett on 4th Aug 2006. The remaining mound of Cubbie Roo's Burden, a chambered cairn, as viewed from the roadside. The purpose of my visit to Orkney was to recce most of the major sites, but in true megarak spirit, I had to look at or at least photo any 'lesser' monuments I passed. This was one of them.
