Avebury submitted by creators on 27th May 2005. I have been reluctant to submit this picture because it is a composite, taken on the same day in the same place but still a composite. It is AngieLake's exquisitely named 'receptors' hands receiving the moon and a picture I love.
So a composite done tenderly of Avebury that is at my very heart.

Rollright Stones

Country: England (Oxfordshire)
Visited: Yes on 2nd Sep 2023. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 5 Access 5

Rollright Stones submitted by Energyman on 21st Dec 2020. This was the closest the weather forecast would allow me to get to this year's solstice sunrise, 20/12/20 8:30am. Luckily very little cloud. The shot is from the altar as I call it, through the entrance at the King's Men, Rollrights.
This alignment was calculated by Jack Morris Eyton, though he never got the chance to confirm it.

Maiden Castle (Dorset) submitted by pab on 16th Oct 2011. Moon at dawn over Maiden Castle.
Just before sunrise, with the almost full moon about to set.
One of those mornings when you feel it is worth getting up early to catch nature's magic working in a magnificent setting.
This photo is looking across the north east rim, with the early morning mist beginning to catch the light from the rising sun.

Grey Mare and her Colts submitted by Horatio on 23rd Apr 2024. Aligned southeast to northwest, the barrow mound is now about 24 metres long, although originally it would have been longer and still survives to a height of about a metre and width of 13 metres at the southeast end behind the chamber to about 8 metres at the northwestern end. This collapsed burial chamber still has two large uprights in situ, another horizontal slab behind the tomb is believed to be the capstone of the collapsed burial chamber. This massive fallen capstone measures over 2 met...

Hob Hurst's House submitted by Vicky on 17th Dec 2001. Hob Hurst's House barrow, Beeley Moor, Derbyshire GR: SK28746923
A general view of Hob Hurst's House. This unusual Bronze Age barrow is located approximately 5km south-east of Baslow on the remote area of open moorland above Harland Edge. It is made up of a central rectangular mound, approximately 8m by 7.5m wide and just under 1m in height. The mound is surrounded by a rectangular bank and ditch, the northern section of which has been damaged by a packhorse track. A small ring of five sto...
