Log Text: A henge - in my opinion - with a single entrance, one bank and ditch remaining. An outer bank and ditch appears to have been mostly destroyed by ploughing but what remains now protected by fencing. On site appears more circular than rectangular. Good access in winter.
Harland Moor
Date Added: 25th Nov 2024
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Yorkshire (North))
Visited: Yes on 24th Nov 2024. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 4 Access 4

Harland Moor submitted by kelpie on 23rd Feb 2004. This circle consists of twelve edge-set boulders. It has a hollow in the centre thought to be a medieval ore-pit.
To the south lies a cairn field and a stone that I believe to be an outlier to the circle.

Log Text: A long barrow - see
https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1013603?section=official-list-entry
Appears to be damaged through excavation (a slice removed immediately behind entrance blocking stones?) but access close to is not possible as the area is fenced and also topped by electric fencing which seems somewhat unnecessary?
Two round barrows/cairns close by and seemingly in alignment also of interest.

Beware an impressive looking standing stone in an adjacent field! Placed there by the farmer for grazing sheep to rub against.

Nether Largie South submitted by Fairycake on 26th Sep 2020. Looking towards the cairn from the south with the large cist in the foreground. This is by far the biggest cist I have seen. There are several inserted into earlier monuments near to here, apart from this, showing these sites continued to have significance over a long period of time.
